Programs
The Russian American Center on the Kamchatka peninsula coordinates partnership activities for CIVITAS Eastern Russia, part of CIVITAS: An International Education Exchange Program. One of the main activities is the "I am a Citizen of Russia!" program, which aims to develop social consciousness and interest in active citizenship in high school students. Another program, the "Civics Mosaics," funded by the U.S. Department of Education, fosters exchanges between Russian and U.S. specialists in civic education. In addition to these programs, the center has programs to reintroduce effective subsistence principles in Native communities and to establish functioning non-profit governance organizations among indigenous peoples. The center also operates a contaminants monitoring project and, in collaboration with ARC, business training for small and medium enterprises.
